Description

This product requires a Prescription from your Vet.

Laxatract is a veterinary medicinal syrup designed to treat constipation and facilitate defecation in both dogs and cats. This syrup is particularly useful in cases such as intestinal atony post-surgery, hairball issues, massive intestinal contents, and partial obstructions due to various conditions like tumours and fractures.

Key Features:

  • Active Ingredient: The primary component of Laxatract is Lactulose, a well-known laxative.
  • Target Species: Suitable for both dogs and cats.
  • Dosage and Administration: The recommended dosage is 400 mg of lactulose per kg body weight per day, equating to 0.6 ml of the syrup per kg body weight daily. This dosage can be divided into 2-3 doses throughout the day. Adjustments can be made based on veterinary guidance.
  • Treatment Duration: The onset of action typically takes 2-3 days, but this can vary.
  • Special Precautions: Not suitable for animals with total gastrointestinal obstruction, digestive perforation, or risk of digestive perforation. Caution is advised in diabetic patients, and those with fluid and electrolyte imbalances.

Safety Information:

  • Adverse Reactions: Initial treatment may cause flatulence, gastric distention, or cramping. Diarrhoea and dehydration can occur in cases of overdose.
  • Pregnancy and Lactation: Safe to use during pregnancy and lactation.
  • Special Precautions for Users: The product contains benzyl alcohol, which may cause allergic reactions. It's advised to avoid direct contact with skin and eyes and to wash hands after use.

Storage and Handling:

  • Storage Conditions: Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
  • Package Content: Available in a 50ml bottle.
  • Prescription Status: A veterinary prescription is required for this product.
